Bishop Arts Engagement Session

Megan and Christian’s Bishop Arts engagement session in Dallas was a total blast! Megan and Christian knew they wanted to shoot in the Bishop Arts District since it was where they had their very first date. I loved this idea and was so stoked to shoot in this eclectic area of Dallas. Megan and Christian are the sweetest couple! They will be getting married in Puerto Rico this June, which sounds absolutely incredible!

why bishop arts is so great for sessions

The Bishop Arts District in Dallas is a unique place! Several streets of fun bars, unique shops and picture perfect sidewalks. This area is booming during the weekend. I would definitely suggest shooting here on weekdays when possible. There are several insta-famous spots in Bishop Arts for photos. We had to shoot at a few of these spots! One of the best known spots in the Bishop Arts District is the “me + you = love” wall. I cannot express how perfect this spot is for engagement photos! This wall is always my go to for a fun loving couple. Especially if they are looking for something that will stand out and screams Dallas.

Nothing can beat the sidewalks in this district, each of the buildings is so picturesque and make for great backdrops without being too distracting. We got lucky with a gorgeous sunset for Megan and Christian’s engagement session, I love how well the sun comes through in this area! Sunsets can be hard to really get the best of in some urban environments, this area allows it to really shine through.

A small detail that I love about shooting in this part of Dallas is the trees lined with twinkle lights on the Main Street. When the sun starts to set and we move into blue hour, they make for the prettiest backdrop in images.

Stunning Dallas Maternity Session

Fontana and her families stunning Dallas maternity session is one that I just could not wait to share in it’s entirety on the blog! The sunset, setting, outfits and of course the people could not have been more harmonious and gorgeous. It really is the best feeling for a photographer when we get to shoot on an evening with a golden sunset. I love how that golden sunlight is streaming through the trees in such a soft way. Fontana’s entire session was such a joy for me to edit! She absolutely cannot take a bad photo, and her little boy is too precious!

Maternity session styling

Fontana chose three different gowns for her maternity session and looks amazing in all three! She chose three colors that are all so pretty to photograph: black, blush pink and cobalt blue. I found it really fun to see how each color gown brought about a whole different mood within this one session. Even with the three different colored gowns, we kept some consistency with each gown being long sleeved and having a similar silhouette. It is so important to choose gowns for your maternity session that you feel confident and comfortable in!

I can’t forget to mention dad and sons adorable matching outfits throughout the session, I love the styling in this session! It helps add variety of posing to maternity sessions when the whole family is involved for part of it. Fontana’s solo maternity shot posing was so effortless, she knew exactly what to do. It also helps that we have been working together for so long, we have gotten into a great flow during sessions!

The jones family maternity session

I first met Fontana when she was a bridesmaid for her sisters wedding back in 2017. We clicked immediately and since then I have been able to work with her several times! I’ve been around for so many big life moments for Fontana and her family. I photographed her engagement session, both of her maternity sessions, and I will be her wedding photographer next year! Becoming a families go to photographer is such an honor and is one of the best parts of my job.

Abigail Elizabeth’s Newborn Session

Abigail Elizabeth’s newborn session was such a joy for me to document! I cannot get enough of the bright whites, and neutral tones in their home. I love capturing babies facial expressions, they are too cute! Newborn sessions are laid back and we work on babies time. Working on babies time means that I come prepared with plenty of patience! I show up to your home ready to work with baby and get some amazing images.

Something unique that I offer for my newborn session clients is the option to bundle sessions together. When you find out you are expecting, there are so many options available for how to document the journey. I suggest doing it all and not missing out on any of these beautiful firsts. Do you want to know an affordable way to not miss a moment? Inquire about bundling your maternity, fresh 48, and newborn sessions together with Amanda Raylee Photography! Together we will plan your dream sessions to document your pregnancy!

How to get the most out of your newborn session

I know that bringing home a new baby and getting into a brand new routine can be just as challenging as it is exciting. Newborn sessions shouldn’t be stressful! Newborn sessions are meant to capture some of the most precious moments at home with your newborn.

I always suggest sticking to neutral colors, both for outfits and choice of which rooms we will be shooting in. This helps create a serene, classic and clean look to your photos. Client’s most commonly chosen rooms for in home lifestyle newborn sessions include the nursery, master bedroom and living room. However, these room options are only suggestions. Don’t hesitate to suggest other rooms in your home, I am always open to different requests based on your unique home! Another tip I have for new parents, make sure your newborn is well fed before the session begins. Naturally, sometimes breaks are needed throughout the session. A happy and full baby always helps things go smoothly! Abigail Elizabeth’s newborn session was one of the sweetest I have photographed, check out the gallery below. I can’t wait to chat with you about your dream session!

The Flores Fort Worth Wedding

The flores Fort Worth wedding

The Flores Fort Worth wedding at Four Eleven wedding Venue was one for the books! I really enjoy shooting at this venue as it is perfect for couples who want a one stop shop for their big day. Four Eleven has space for the ceremony and reception all in one. This venue has a unique vibe that couples and vendors alike fall in love with.

Christopher and Desiree

Christopher and Desiree got engaged in Rome, Italy in December of 2018. Talk about an absolute dream proposal! Desiree had been learning Italian prior to their Italy trip, so Christopher knew this would be a memorable place to ask her to be his forever. Christopher and Desiree had been out sightseeing and after getting a bit carried away wine tasting, headed to a romantic dinner. Christopher had placed coasters on the table that said “Desiree will you marry me!” in Italian! I think their proposal story is just the cutest, what a creative move on Christopher’s part!

Desiree and Christopher love soccer, true crime, Scotch, bowling, breweries and traveling together. I love that they are a couple that shares their passions with each other! This close bond is obvious to everyone around them and makes them such an easy couple to love.

For their wedding day, they chose a color scheme of black and navy with gold accents. Such a unique and stunning combination of colors for their decor! It is fun for me when I get to document a wedding day with so many special details. One of my favorite details from the Flores wedding are Desiree sparkly wedding shoes! These shoes were such a playful touch and not to mention so much more comfortable than traditional heels. I also really loved the embroidered handkerchief with their initials and wedding date.

Desiree and Christopher did a phenomenal job making their wedding day one to remember!

The Anglin’s Fort Worth Family Session

The Anglin’s Fort Worth family session took place early in the morning in Flower Mound. I prefer shooting in the early morning or evening in order to take advantage of the softer, golden light that we all adore. Another plus to morning sessions is walking away looking your best for the rest of the day!

The anglin family

I have had the pleasure of working with the Anglin’s since their oldest, Xander, was still in mom’s tummy! From 2017 to now, every session that I have with this precious family becomes my new favorite! Our first session together was a maternity session, since then we have covered just about all of the bases. I captured Xander’s newborn photos, milestone sessions, and lots of family sessions in between. Then when Eli came along, we did it all over again and loved every minute of it. As a photographer, there are always certain families that you have a soft spot for, that is the Anglin’s for me. They have offered unwavering support to me over the last four years and I hope we get to continue to create these magical moments together for a long time coming!

Having the opportunity to grow with a family truly is the most unique and rewarding aspect of being a photographer. I have made some lasting bonds and friendships with my amazing clients that I cherish! It is so fun to see how fast kids change from one session to the next. Documenting their growing personalities through photos is so special. Xander and Eli never fail to melt my heart with their sweet smiles.

Outfit choice for family photos

I love the outfits the Anglin’s chose for their Fort Worth family session! The fact that Amber is a pop of color in the group really draws your eye in to the photos. Burnt orange, denim and navy blues is a classic color combo and works especially well in the fall season. Tying in the subtle oranges in the trees with a pop of warmth in your outfits is genius.

Fort Worth Engagement Session

Sierra and Davis had their Fort Worth Engagement session out at Eagle Mountain Park on the most perfect day! Even with a bunch of wind, and it being a little bit chilly, these two were so full of joy! Not to mention we got the most incredible sunset at the end of their session. I had the best time capturing these images for Sierra and Davis! We had to reschedule their original date because it was only twenty degrees outside that day and I am so glad that we did. I would love for every session to have backlighting like this.

Sierra and Davis

Sierra and Davis got engaged while on vacation in Gulf Shores, Alabama in August of 2020! Davis proposed to Sierra with a family heirloom ring, which he had custom fit just for her. Those kind of special details melt my heart! These two are high school sweethearts, the ultimate love story! Sierra loves her cats, playing the piano, and spending quality time watching movies at home with Davis. Davis is passionate about cars and loves working out. Their chemistry is so sweet and I just adore them together!

When talking about what their vision for their engagement session was, Sierra just knew that she wanted it to be romantic! Simple sunset vibes at this gorgeous park in Fort Worth fit their personalities so well. Eagle Mountain Park is a favorite location of mine because it has so many unique looking backgrounds all in one location! Eagle Mountain Park also seems to always get the best lighting at sunset time year round which is every photographers dream!

Engagement outfit choices

I have to give these two props for picking such great outfits for their Fort Worth engagement session! Neutrals with lots of texture are always a good fit for an outdoor session. I especially loved their second look for its colors and subtle yet striking patterns. I always recommend a casual oufit and a formal outfit for these sessions to have nice variety. Kudos to Sierra and Davis for bringing their style and rocking it!

Austin Texas Maternity Session

Natalie’s Austin Texas maternity session took place at one of my absolute favorite venue locations! The Sekrit Theatre in Austin is such an epic spot for any kind of photography session, but especially for mommas to be. Natalie had her maternity session in October of 2020, and even in the fall we were dealing with some major heat. On top of the Texas heat, we also had a ton of mosquitoes hanging out at the session as well. Despite these factors, we just kept shooting forever because this location was just so gorgeous and had so many different options available. I cannot get enough of the checkerboard floors, floor to ceiling windows and vibes wrapped up and down the A-frame building. Even outside of the main structure at this location, there are even more fun spots to use on the property! We liked the looks of the airstream and used that as a back drop for some of their images during this Austin Texas maternity session.

Natalie is wearing a gown from my client closet. She chose to wear the black dress from my client closet, this form fitting gown fit in with the Sekrit Theatre so well. When you book a session with me you have full access to my client closet. The closet has a wide variety of gowns, over 30 and counting! I love providing this as an option to my clients, it can help make the planning process simple and smooth. My goal is to make the process from booking to image delivery as seamless and fun as possible for my clients!

Natalie and Slade were so overjoyed and so excited during their session just thinking about the day they would get to meet their baby boy, Liam. I can’t wait to watch their family grow!

Dallas Texas Bridal Photography

Amanda and I had so much fun together for her Dallas, Texas bridal photography session. Amanda wanted a natural feel for her bridal session. The natural vibes of her bouquet went perfectly with this location. I adore the classic look and feel of her bouquet, the greens and whites couldn’t be more timeless. Amanda looks so incredibly stunning in her wedding gown! A lace bodice and tulle skirt will never go out of style. This style of dress is perfect for brides who want to be able to dance into the night, while feeling comfortable and beautiful.

I could not have been more excited when Amanda decided to bring her dog Brady along to be in some of her bridal photos! He was such a good boy and looked so handsome standing next to his mom in her bridal photos. I am always down to include fur babies in your sessions, just reach out so we can choose a dog friendly location. This spot was ideal to bring Brady along for some photos.

I love learning about my couples and how they met! Amanda and Ryan met by chance on a study abroad trip in South Africa. Amanda describes it as Ryan seeing her from across the room during a pre-trip meeting, and they connected immediately. Fast forward a bit, and Ryan proposed to Amanda at home. Ryan popped the question by writing it out on a letter board and placing the ring on top. This proposal matched their personalities so well and was so sweet!

I will be sharing Amanda’s bridals for a long time! Some of my favorites images from her bridal session are the under the veil shots. I love unique perspectives in my images. I also love the fun spinning photos in Amanda’s gallery, such a whimsical feel with the wooded location. This was one of my favorite Dallas Texas bridal photography sessions.

Jordyn and Joe’s Summer Dallas Wedding

Jordyn and Joe’s summer Dallas wedding was an incredibly beautiful day to be a part of! Jordyn and Joe got married at Ashton Gardens Venue in Corinth. Ashton Gardens is the perfect venue for couples who want their ceremony and reception to take place in the same location. I can’t get over how elegant the decorations for this wedding day were, every little detail was so fun to document.

Jordyn and Joe have been together for five years and Joe proposed in May of 2019 over Memorial Day weekend. Jordyn’s family has a tradition of going to her cousin’s lake house over the holiday weekend, so Joe knew this would be the perfect opportunity to pop the question. Jordyn was so surprised and so overjoyed that Joe invited their closest friends and family to be there for to celebrate their special moment after she said yes to spending her life with him. I adore hearing my couples engagement stories and learning all about the things that make them the couple that they are together.

Jordyn and Joe are super outdoorsy and both have an artistic side! Jordyn loves watercolor painting and Joe is a talented cinematographer. He even worked on the set of Bachelor in Paradise for two years! I get to meet the coolest and kindest people through my job. Photographing a couple’s biggest day brings me so much joy and I am so glad that Jordyn and Joe chose me to document their wedding day!

I think it’s clear from the photos how in love these two are, and how much fun their wedding day was! Surrounded by their friends in family, these two said “I do”. One of my favorite photos from their day is of Jordyn and Joe running through a tunnel of their bridal party, the expressions on their faces are pure joy!
